या अलंकाराला खुप जुनी परंपरा आहे. या साजावर शुभ व मंगलदायी प्रतिकांचे नक्षीकाम केलेले असते. उदा. त्यामध्ये चंद्र, शंख, चक्र, नाग, कासव इ. शुभ चिन्हांची पदके माळेच्या दोन्ही बाजूस जोडलेली असतात. मध्यभागी मोठे पदक असून त्याच्या मध्यभागी एक लाल रत्न लावलेले असते.
साधारण 60 वर्षे जुना असा हा दागिन्याचा प्रकार आहे. कोल्हापुरी साजमध्ये जावमणी आणि पानाड्या (वेगवेगळ्या आकारांची पाने) सोन्याच्या तारेमध्ये गुंफली जातात
Kolhapuri saaj is an old traditional jewellery from the western ghats of Maharashtra. The kolhapuri saaj is often associated with sacred symbolism.It includes Moon, Conch, Chakra, Snake, Tortoise etc. Medals of auspicious signs are attached to both sides of the garland. In the center is a large medallion with a red gem in the center.
This type of jewelry is about 60 years old. Kolhapuri saj consists of javamani and panadya (leaves of different sizes) interwoven with gold thread.

- Store it separately, ideally in a soft-lined box or case, so that your favourite pieces don't tangle, rub or scratch one another. Pearls in particular should be kept separately as they are easily scratched by hard gemstones.
