बांगड्यांच्या विविध प्रकारातील एक वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण प्रकार म्हणजे पाटल्या. बांगडीपेक्षा किंचित जाड असणाऱ्या पाटल्या सुकुमार हातात उठून दिसतात. बांगड्या – तोडे – हिरवा चुडा ह्यांच्या बरोबरीने सौभाग्य चुड्यात छान दिसतातच पण नुसत्या पाटल्या घातल्या तरी उठून दिसतात.
भारतात फार पूर्वीपासून बांगडी वापरात आहे. मोहें-जो-दडो येथील उत्खननात मिळालेल्या एका स्त्रीमूर्तीच्या हातभर बांगड्या घातलेल्या आढळून आल्या आहेत. तसेच मातीच्या रंगीत बांगड्याही उत्खननात सापडल्या आहेत. महाराष्ट्रात तर स्त्री मग ती कुमारिका असो वा सुवासिनी तिच्या हातात बांगडी हवीच. हात भुंडा असू नये.
